Xiaomi overhauls the design language of the Y lineup with this smartphone. There’s the dotdrop notch that highlights the face of the smartphone. Round the back, a two-tone gradient furnish that refracts light rays is what Xiaomi calls the Aura Smoke design. Away from hues and saturation, the edges are curved for holding the smartphone better.
The Xiaomi Redmi Y3 features a 6.26-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen + water drop notch display with resolution of 720 x 1520 pixels (269 ppi) and an aspect ratio of 19:9.
Battery and Camera
Redmi Y3 is powered by a 4,000mAh battery capacity with a 10W fast charging through its USB Type-C which also supports USB On The Go.
The 32MP selfie snapper is perhaps the highlight of this device as it is currently the first and only Xiaomi smartphone to house a 32MP front-facing camera. The camera has an f/2.2 aperture with HDR and can shoot videos 1080p videos at 30fps. The dual rear camera setup consists of a main 12MP camera with an f/2.2 aperture and PDAF accompanied by a secondary 2MP depth sensor camera. It can also shoot 1080p videos at both 30fps and 60fps with gyro-EIS. It also has an LED flash, Panorama and HDR.
Hardware and Software
Fortunately, just like the Redmi 7, the Redmi Y3 uses a Snapdragon 632 from Qualcomm. The Chipset has an Octa-core processor clocked at 1.8GHz paired with an Adreno 506 GPU for games and graphics. It has either 3GB or 4GB of RAM with 32GB or 64GB of storage respectively. Thanks to the dedicated MicroSD card slot, additional storage can be added to the device. Redmi Y3 runs MIUI 9 based on Android 9.0 Pie. Hopefully, it will get an update to the latest Xiaomi Android Skin – MIUI 10.
Xiaomi Redmi Y3 Pricing and Availability
The smartphone is for sale for about 45, 000 Naira for the 3GB variant while the 4GB model cost 55, 000 Naira depending on the deal and your location.
